ABOUT

👋  Hi

Welcome to mariejudith.com.  My name is Marie-Judith but you can call me MJ or Marie.

I'm a multidisciplinary artist

It’s the most accurate label I’ve been able to come up with (thus far) to describe what I do. I do a lot of things as an artist: I read, I think, I write,  I draw, I paint, I design,  I produce and I organize. All the things that I do come from a sense of curiosity and interest about the world around me.

I CREATE AND SELL ARTWORKS

I've been drawing probably since I was able to hold a pencil. It's always been a hobby of mine and recently started to spend a bit more time on it. I've exhibited in a couple places including the Toronto Transit Commission. You can get some original artworks from me on Square and The Sketching Shop. Prints are also available on CafePress and Society6.

I LEAD AND FOUNDED THE TORONTO URBAN SKETCHERS GROUP

Group exhibition for the Toronto Urban Sketchers

Since I move to Toronto (Canada) in 2013,  I founded the Toronto Urban Sketchers where we regularly visit different areas of the city to sketch on location. The group has grown to over 800 members and we recently had our first group art show. We also self published our first book : Urban Sketching Disappearing Landmarks in Toronto. I plan to do more of that in the near future.

I CREATE AND DESIGN BOOKS

I've been involved in creating books since I was in highschool. I self-published my first coloring book for adults called Color Your Stress Away ; Geometrical Patterns in 2015, and a pocket version of it in 2016,  and I plan to create more in the near future. I’ve also done some freelance work as a graphic designer for projects such as Eric Thomas’s book Greatness is Upon You and occasionally work on book layouts and illustration projects.

I HOSTED A PODCAST TO INSPIRE PEOPLE

Following my interest for self development, I recently took the plunge and started my own podcast project on YouTube called Toronto Real where I interviewed 12 people for a deep conversation about their experience in life. It was a great experience learning how to record and edit videos.

I DESIGN THINGS AND SPACES

I love elegant modern design and always think of ways to improve the way things work and look like. I have experience as an interior designer, having worked on some great projects in Ottawa and Montreal including creating special feature booths for the Ottawa Home and Garden Show (2010 and 2011) and co-hosting for the TV show Méchant Changement (2007). I also have experience as a building engineer, having worked in the past on several projects focusing on energy efficiency in.

I TAKE PICTURES OF MY ITALIAN GREYHOUND

Maybe it's a dog guardian thing, but every since we adopted our dog Newton, he's been a huge part of my creative endeavours as well. He even has a special page I created just for him here and here.
